This is the quiet one in the drop, and it works because of everything it leaves out. There is no body — just the violet eyes, the white jagged grin and the tongue hanging out, suspended in mid-air like the rest of it has already faded through the wall. Three curling ghost wisps drift above the face to hold the composition together, and ゲンガー sits in clean katakana underneath. On black especially it reads as if the shirt itself is the darkness the face is grinning out of.
The Design
- Negative-space design — the shirt colour becomes part of the artwork
- Violet eyes, white grin and tongue, no body outline
- Three floating ghost wisp accents above the face
- ゲンガー katakana wordmark centred beneath the print
- Back print only, plain front
Choose Your GSM: 160 or 220
Because this print relies on the shirt colour showing through, fabric weight matters more here than usual — a denser fabric gives you a flatter, more solid backdrop for the floating face.
Premium 220 GSM
Heavier, more opaque, and the better backdrop for a negative-space print. Less light passes through, so the black reads properly black. Black only.
Everyday 160 GSM
The lighter, airier weight with a softer hand feel. Easier to wear all day in the heat. Offered in black and grey.
Available Colours and Sizes
Pick black if you want the face to look genuinely suspended in the dark, or charcoal grey for a softer, more muted version of the same effect. Six sizes, unisex.
- Black — available in 160 GSM and 220 GSM
- Grey — available in 160 GSM
- Sizes — XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL (unisex)
- Print — back print only, plain front
The Fit, and Looking After It
Oversized drop-shoulder, unisex. Wide through the chest, dropped seam, short boxy sleeve. It already wears roomy at your normal size. To keep the print clean: cold wash inside out, no bleach, line dry in shade, iron inside out only.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there no body in the design?
That is the point. The artwork uses the shirt colour as negative space, so only the face reads — the effect is strongest on black, where the print looks like it is floating in the dark.
Is this design subtle enough for everyday wear?
Yes. It is the most understated print in the Gengar drop, which makes it the easy pick if you want anime detailing without a full-back character illustration.
Does the grey version look different?
On grey the face sits against a charcoal background rather than pure black, so the floating effect is softer and the violet reads warmer. Grey is offered in 160 GSM only.
What sizes are available?
XS, S, M, L, XL and 2XL, in an oversized unisex cut. Check the size guide on this page before ordering.
